White-Glove Delivery & Safe Installation — What to Expect

A finished watch safe in the 170 cm configuration weighs between 400 and 600 kilograms, depending on the security grade and configuration. It arrives at your property as a finished piece of Swiss craftsmanship, ready for its permanent location. Getting it there — and placing it correctly — is not a process that can be improvised or delegated to a general logistics provider. It requires planning, the right equipment, specialist personnel, and a level of discretion that the nature of the object demands.

This article describes our delivery and installation process in detail: from the initial planning conversation to the moment the door closes and you begin using your safe. Understanding what to expect removes uncertainty from a process that, for many clients, is the first time they have taken delivery of an object of this weight and security significance.

Planning the Space — Before the Safe Arrives

The installation planning conversation happens before production begins, not after. During the commission process, we will ask about the intended location in detail: floor plan dimensions, ceiling height, door width and swing clearance, corridor access, lift dimensions (if applicable), and — critically — the floor structure and its load-bearing capacity. Most modern concrete floors can support our heaviest installations without modification. Older properties with timber-framed floors may require reinforcement; we will identify this in advance and advise on the appropriate solution, working with your architect or structural engineer if needed.

We will also confirm the route from the building entrance to the installation room. For apartment installations, this includes lift dimensions, stair widths and angles, and any doorways or corridors that may require temporary adjustment. For larger pieces, it can include the removal and reinstatement of door frames. None of this is unusual — but it must be planned, not improvised.

Our Delivery Process — Specialist Team, No Third Parties

We do not use general freight or courier services for the delivery of finished pieces. Every safe is transported by our own specialist team in a dedicated vehicle, with custom-built loading equipment and protective packaging that ensures the piece arrives in exactly the condition it left our workshop. No third-party driver handles a Kronberg piece from point of production to point of installation — this is a non-negotiable operational principle.

The delivery team consists of two to four specialists depending on the weight and complexity of the piece. They are experienced in the specific challenges of residential safe installation — navigating difficult access, protecting finished floors and walls, managing the weight safely with hydraulic dollies and purpose-built equipment. The entire process from arrival at the property to completion of installation typically takes two to four hours for a Standard Safe, and a full day for a Grand Cabinet installation that involves cabinetwork integration.

Installation — Anchoring, Electrical, Finishing

Once in position, the safe is anchored. Floor anchoring uses high-tensile bolts into the concrete or timber structure below, with anti-vibration dampening to protect the floor surface. Wall anchoring is used where the floor structure alone is insufficient, or where the client prefers belt-and-braces security. The anchoring points are concealed within the base of the safe and are not visible from the exterior.

Electrical connections for winder modules, LED lighting, and alarm outputs are made at this stage. All cabling is concealed within the safe structure or routed through purpose-drilled conduit to the mains supply. The electrical installation is carried out by a qualified specialist on our team and meets Swiss regulatory standards. We will confirm the power requirements with you in advance and identify the optimal cable route during the planning visit.

International Delivery — 40+ Countries and Growing

Kronberg Collection currently delivers to clients in more than forty countries. International installations require additional coordination — customs documentation, import permits in certain jurisdictions, specialist international transport partners who meet our standards for security and discretion, and in some cases advance visits to the installation site by a member of our team. For clients in continental Europe, we manage the complete process ourselves. For intercontinental deliveries, we work with a select group of specialist art and high-value goods transport partners who operate under our operational requirements and NDAs.

Lead times for international installations are longer — typically 12 to 16 weeks from commission to installation, compared to 8 to 12 weeks for Swiss deliveries. We will confirm the timeline for your specific destination during the consultation process.

After Installation — Orientation, Programming, Care

When the safe is in position, anchored, and connected, we provide a full orientation. This includes: programming your chosen combination (or registering biometric credentials if applicable); setting the winder TPD and direction for each module; adjusting the interior layout if any final modifications are required; demonstrating the lighting controls; and providing the care documentation for the interior material. We will answer every question you have — there are no rushed endings to a Kronberg installation.

Before we leave, we verify that everything is functioning exactly as specified, check the door alignment and bolt engagement, and confirm that you are comfortable with every aspect of the safe's operation. Our team is available by telephone thereafter, and we conduct a twelve-month check-in with every client to ensure ongoing satisfaction.

"The last thing you want is a delivery driver knowing what's in the box — or where it's going. Our team operates under NDA from day one."

Discretion — Standard Operating Procedure

Discretion is built into every aspect of our delivery and installation process. Our vehicles are unmarked — no branding, no signage. Our team carries no documentation that identifies the nature of the piece being installed. All team members operate under a non-disclosure agreement that extends permanently beyond their employment. We do not discuss client installations, locations, or configurations with anyone outside the direct team involved.

This level of discretion is not exceptional for us — it is standard. The security of your collection begins before the safe arrives, and maintaining it means ensuring that the process of installation creates no additional intelligence for anyone with interest in your property or your collection.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is a large watch safe delivered and installed?

A finished safe is transported by Kronberg's own specialist team in a dedicated, unmarked vehicle with custom loading equipment and protective packaging, never by a third-party courier. A crew of two to four specialists then positions, anchors and connects it on site, with no general freight handler involved at any point.

How much does a 170 cm watch safe weigh?

A finished watch safe in the 170 cm configuration weighs between 400 and 600 kilograms, depending on the security grade and configuration. This weight is why placement requires hydraulic dollies, purpose-built equipment and advance access planning rather than improvised handling.

Does a watch safe need to be bolted to the floor?

Yes, the safe is anchored once in position, using high-tensile bolts into the concrete or timber structure with anti-vibration dampening to protect the floor surface. Wall anchoring is added where the floor structure alone is insufficient, and all anchoring points are concealed within the base and not visible from the exterior.

How long does watch safe installation take?

Installation typically takes two to four hours for a Standard Safe and a full day for a Grand Cabinet that involves cabinetwork integration. After placement and anchoring, the team also handles electrical connections, full orientation and a final check of door alignment and bolt engagement before leaving.

Does Kronberg Collection deliver and install internationally?

Yes, Kronberg currently delivers to clients in more than forty countries, managing the full process in-house for continental Europe and using vetted specialist art and high-value transport partners under NDA for intercontinental deliveries. International lead times run about 12 to 16 weeks from commission to installation, compared with 8 to 12 weeks for Swiss deliveries.
